ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage Diploma
 
Venue: Southsea School of Massage, Portsmouth, Hampshire
 
Small classes, limited to a maximum of ten pupils, enabling individual attention.
 
The main emphasis is on the Skeletal, Muscular and Neurological systems that have been covered in the massage diploma syllabus. Sports Massage techniques are invaluable for treating muscular conditions/injuries resulting from sports, occupational or hobbies/leisure activities.
 
Course Includes:
 
  • Sports nutrition
  • Sports injury
  • Training for sport
  • Exercise physiology 
 
Case studies treating 5 clients 3 times underpin the practical element of the course.
 
Specific Techniques for Sports Injury and Rehabilitation Include:
 
  • Neuro muscular technique - N.M.T.
  • Strain counter strain-(SCS)
  • Soft Tissue Release (STR)
  • Cross fibre rolling, fascia release, friction and stretching.
 
Topics Covered Include:
 
  • Sports specific injuries, warm up and warm down, R.I.C.E.,
  • Heat treatments - paraffin wax etc.
  • Exercise passive resistive and active, stretching M.E.T., and contra indications.
 
100 hours of guided learning is the minimum. Most students achieve at least 150 hours of study including lectures and practical work.

£499 excluding the exam fee. Fee includes a Sports Massage video and course material (excluding text book Plus a free Laurie Gee video!

Sport Massage Skills Workshop Courses
 
Pre & Post Sports Event Massage
Run in conjunction with the Southsea School of Massage
 
No previous experience is necessary. The course is designed for athletes and sports people to improve their team mates or partners performance.
 
Sports massage is for injury prevention and keeping the musculature in peak condition for performance.  Injury rehabilitation is also aided by sports massage.
 
This one day workshop course covers:
 
Classic Massage Movements
Massage for injury Prevention.
Massage for performance preparation.
Massage to keep the Musculature in Peak condition for ultimate performance.
Massage self help.
 
The course is taught in Salisbury & Southampton by Robert Bray, Sports Massage Therapist & Tutor and Laurie Gee, Sports Therapist to Olympic and World Championship Gold medallists and Principal of the Southsea School of Massage.
